I love this. I left instagram this week as well. It’s a platform that has been a big part of my identity as a creative for the best part of 13 years and it has been a weird thing, letting it go. But i felt a certain kind of violent rotting of my brain after two years of scrolling past mutilated babies, followed by peppy idiots trying to sell me lip tint. It has become a hell hole. The hard thing is… this was the bedrock of how I shared work with my creative community, and it had also become the core way in which I connected with people on the ground in Gaza - very directly. As well as other activists and great thinkers (like yourself). I’m navigating how to keep showing up for those in Gaza and finding places to connect with them without instagram. Thanks for all you do Clementine.
I don’t know whether to congratulate or commiserate. I feel a sense of loss but also buckets of admiration for you and your power. It took an absolute truck load of Zionists so much time and effort to have your account disabled. Imagine being that much of a threat to fascists. You’re truely iconic.
Maybe showing my age, but I reckon your books are the most important part of your work. And you can't be de-platformed off our bookshelves (not yet anyway!).

Yup. It’s the same process of breaking up with a narcissist who fucks really really good but over time every time you fuck him you feel worse, you feel like a bit of your soul got sucked out with the orgasms. You might have even started faking the orgasms to feed his ego because you still weren’t ready to let it all go.
And then you walk away. You breathe for the first time in a long time not even realizing you were holding your fucking breath until you could make yourself walk away. Until you could choose you over whatever you were getting from being with him. You finally get that big dicks and orgasms are low low low down on the priority list for creating a great life.
Congrats!! I’ve been off FB since 2020. Broke up with Insta twice, second time was the charm. And since summer distanced myself from YT and writing and reading here on Substack. There’s dopamine bs here too so I’m still challenged to stay conscious in an unconscious world.
